Meet Waioli

Waioli Gonsalves grew up in Waimea, Kauaʻi, and eventually made his way to Oʻahu, where he finished his education at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Much of his work has been built around working with others — an experience that shaped his approach: do what you can to help the people you care for.

Over 25 years in the elevator industry, he earned credentials most consultants in this field don't hold. As a State of Hawaiʻi Licensed Elevator Mechanic (EVM-417) and Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI), he's authorized under ASME A17.1 to access elevator equipment and restricted spaces on his own — no contractor escort required. That independence matters. It's what separates real oversight from a report written at a desk.

He founded Hawaii Elevator Consulting to give building owners something the industry doesn't often provide: straight answers from someone who knows the work, understands the contractors, and has zero financial stake in who gets the job or what gets sold.

Waioli is personally involved in every HEC engagement — on site, on island, and directly reachable by the clients he serves. He lives in Honolulu with his wife. They have two grown children.

HEC is a locally owned, independent consulting firm. Waioli is actively pursuing certification as a Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO) and is committed to serving State and Federal government clients alongside the commercial property owners, condominium associations, HOAs, hotels, hospitals, and office buildings across Hawaiʻi.
